Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 nerfs C4 and Origin-12

The latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone patch has nerfed the Origin-12 shotgun and C4 explosives.

Season 6 has introduced an array of new content – including a subway system in Verdansk – but it has also addressed some pressing concerns from players.

As with any game that allows people to choose and customise their gear and weapons, Call of Duty: Warzone has a ‘meta’.

While C4 has long been a pain to anyone driving a vehicle without a trophy system, it still required some skill to time both the throw and detonation.

However, throughout the course of Season 5, the infamous Origin-12 shotgun rose to prominence.

While it initially seems like an odd choice for Warzone – given that many skirmishes occur at range – the weapon was deadly at close-quarter combat due to it being semi-automatic.

YouTubers and streamers alike soon cottoned on to how powerful it was, causing their viewers to flock to it.

This led to many players running around spamming the Origin-12 at short range and in doing so, causing much frustration to those on the other end.

In the latest patch, developer Infinity Ward seems to have taken feedback on-board as the shotgun has now had its damage reduced at “very close range”.

There is also now a delay when quickly detonating C4 while a bleep sound will play to alert enemies that an explosion is about to be triggered. The initial velocity at which it is thrown has also been nerfed by 30%.

It still remains to be seen how effective the patch will be, as some over-powered weapons in the past have required multiple nerfs to properly balance the meta.
