EA announces Apex Legends ‘Voidwalker’ event
Electronic Arts (EA) has launched the next event for its popular Apex Legends battle royale.
Called ‘Voidwalker’, the event runs until September September 17 and is heavily focused on Wraith – one of the main playable characters.
Voidwalker explores Wraith’s mysterious past and introduces changes to the Kings Canyon map as well as new limited-time game mode, fresh challenges and new loot.
Syndicate construction crews have unearthed part of a decayed Project: Wraith facility in Kings Canyon.
It features a functional prototype portal – similar to the one Wraith uses – which can be used to get an early jump on the base, or to flee and re-initiate the skydive into the map.
The new limited-time mode is called ‘Armed and Dangerous’ in which weapons become limited, while the rest of the loot becomes scarce.
Similar to previous events, there are challenges which grant the player cosmetic rewards such as a new weapon skins for the G7 sniper rifle.
Following the controversy surrounding Apex’s last event – the Iron Crown – the game will be offer lower tier loot for purchase at a more reasonable price.
In addition to the items – which will become available again six months after the event – there will be six new legendary items added to the core loot pool. These can be obtained through crafting or opening packs.
As with previous events, the weekend players will earn double XP for finishing in the top five or winning a match.
