Publisher Square Enix has revealed the Marvel’s Avengers PS4 beta was the most downloaded in PlayStation history.

It is believed that more than six million people signed up to participate in it, making it the most successful beta for both the PS4 and PS3.

The studio did not share details for Xbox One or PC but given that it was available on Sony’s flagship console for a week earlier, it is unlikely other platforms matched this number.

The developer shared an infographic highlighting some other feats and milestones that were reached during the Marvel’s Avengers beta.

Gamers managed to total a staggering 27 million hours played throughout the course of it while also defeating a mind-blowing 300 million enemies.

Additional statistics revealed that there were 33 million Ms Marvel embiggens, 200 million Hulk smashes, and 175,000 legendary items were discovered.

Square Enix has since said that the “feedback and requests” will bear a “major impact” on the upcoming Day 1 patch when the game is officially released.

The improvements encompass optimised save game functionality, enhanced matchmaking alongside better character selection.

Like most modern titles, Marvel’s Avengers will feature microtransactions for cosmetics items that can be bought in the store.

The publisher recently revealed the in-game currency is known as ‘Credits’ and 500 of them will cost roughly $5, as per GamesRadar.

The marketplace is tipped to rotate between different items each week to keep adding fresh content for those who like collecting different skins.

Currently, some players have had early access for a couple of days, though the worldwide release for Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled for September 4, 2020.
