New Batman title to establish an in-game DC Universe17th April 2020
The upcoming instalment to the Batman video game series will introduce others from the DC Universe, reports have claimed.
It has been five years since the last entry to the franchise debuted and fans have been longing for more ever since.
In total, there has been four additions to the series, with Rocksteady having developed the core trilogy.
Between the second and third titles, Warner Bros Montreal created a prequel game that portrayed a less capable Batman.
The rumour mill has been set motion numerous times over the last few years but more recently, it was suggested the new entry would focus on Bruce Wayne’s son, Damian.
It was believed he would heavily feature in The Court of Owls story line that was teased by people who worked on the prequel game.
However, new reports have since emerged suggesting the series will, in fact, be softly rebooted.
Rocksteady will now be developing a video game that will serve as the beginning of a ‘cohesive’ in-game DC Universe.
Following this, Warner Bros Montreal will create a DC title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, reports Geeks WorldWide.
There will even be a game dedicated to Superman – an idea that has been rumoured in the past – though, it is not yet clear who will develop it.
Interestingly, the same report also details how The Court of Owls will still be included – alongside a playable cast of Batman’s allies.
This means Damian Wayne could still be a protagonist for the player to control alongside others, such as Catwoman.
Further details remain tight-lipped at this time and until Rocksteady or Warner Bros confirm the news, it remains to be seen if an in-game DC Universe will be established.
