This week’s hottest video games trailers and gameplay footage13th September 2019
This past week has seen a host of exciting trailers and gameplay footage emerge to keep fans enticed for the latest upcoming titles.
From the 50 minute long gameplay video for Death Stranding to the Kingdom Hearts 3 Re Mind expansion trailer, all the way through to Gearbox accidentally leaking the Borderlands 3 trailer, this week has been far from short of entertainment.
2019 has so far been good for video games with the likes of Kingdom Hearts 3, Devil May Cry 5, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Mortal Kombat 11, Control and Astral Chain having already been released.
The Gears 5 and Borderlands 3 video games have only just hit the shelves as well.
The year hasn’t ended yet though, with the likes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Code Vein, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Death Stranding still to be released.
And this past week has also seen some brilliant trailers released to keep fans at the edge of their seats in the run-up to the release of games coming out next year, such as the Final Fantasy VII remake and Cyberpunk 2077.
Death Stranding – the latest brainchild from Hideo Kojima – the father of Metal Gear Solid – had a 50 minute long gameplay video released this week.
The video was uploaded in the hopes of providing eager fans with more insight into what the game will be about.
If you still don’t have a clue what the game is about, don’t worry because neither does Kojima.
Speaking to the Financial Times, he revealed: “Death Stranding… even now, I don’t understand the game.”
Kingdom Hearts 3 Re Mind
Kingdom Hearts 3 launched at the start of this year and provided fans with the conclusion of a near 20 year story as the final fight with Master Xehanort finally edged closer.
Much to some fan’s dismay, the game ended and left them with more questions than answers.
The Re Mind expansion is set to launch this winter and add new dimensions to the narrative and hopefully answer some of those questions.
Borderlands 3 has just launched, though in the short while before it hit the shelves, Gearbox – the team behind Borderlands – “accidentally” leaked the latest trailer for the title.
The trailer was leaked on Gearbox’s Twitter before it swiftly removed the post upon realising what had happened.
In typical internet fashion, however, the trailer was posted onto Reddit leaving evidence of Gearbox’s mistake. The official trailer has since been released.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a hotly anticipated game and the next title to come from CD Projekt Red – the team behind the insanely popular The Witcher game series.
Cyberpunk will be vastly different from The Witcher but, nonetheless, it looks a superb offering.
The latest trailer runs side-by-side with some behind-the-scenes shots such as the motion capture actors talking and choreographing fight scenes.
Final Fantasy VII remake
Final Fantasy VII is a classic title released back in 1997 and it has long been a title fans have been eager to see unleashed on the power of modern consoles and gaming platforms.
Similarly to the resurgence of Disney film remakes, classic video games also seem to be getting the remake treatment, with Final Fantasy VII being just one name on that list.
While it isn’t scheduled for release until March 2020, the latest trailer has given fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the long-awaited remake.
The release of Nioh 2’s trailer is really exciting, the fast-paced action game is set to take players back to the Sengoku period in Japan and battle more hordes of Yokai.
Known for its difficulty, the first Nioh was a success and the second one looks every bit as good with new non-player characters (NPCs) and boss battles galore on show.
The trailer also provides an ambiguous release date for Nioh 2, revealing it will launch in early 2020.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake
Nintendo have also released an overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake which showcases some gameplay for the upcoming title.
While it isn’t The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, no doubt long-time fans of the Zelda series will be excited to see the latest gameplay footage for the remake of a classic Zelda title which was released back in 1993 on the Gameboy.
Though the original title first debuted on the SNES as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Following the Gameboy version, it was then re-released for the Gameboy Colour and now finally it is making its way to the Nintendo Switch.
The latest Capcom title looks like it could well be a four-player Resident Evil-like multiplayer game, similar to Left 4 Dead.
The different characters will serve as different class archetypes each with their own unique abilities, advantages and disadvantages.
The four players will need to work with one another to overcome obstacles, traps and enemies in a bid for survival.
It looks as though it will be a four versus one type multiplayer where the lone player will control ‘Mastermind’ who can unleash the hordes of enemies and traps on the survivors.
