Team Vitality’s prodigy ‘ZywOo’ has officially been crowned the youngest player to earn the top spot in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) rankings.

Mathieu Herbaut is not only the youngest person, but also the first-ever French born star to reach the summit.

The 19-year-old ended the year with a 1.31 HLTV rating at major events, five HLTV MVP medals at huge tournaments and five EVP mentions.

These awards led the rising ace to being crowned the number one CS:GO player in the 2019 HLTV rankings.

He joined Team Vitality at the start of 2019 and, with his teammates Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire, Cédric ‘RpK’ Guipouy, Alex ‘ALEX’ McMeekin, and Richard ‘shox’ Papillon, the roster accomplished much throughout the year.

The squad managed to secure consecutive titles at cs_summit 4 and ECS Season 7 Finals in the first half of the year before finishing runner-up at ESL One Cologne and DreamHack Masters Malmö.

In conjunction with his three world firsts, ZywOo also secured runner-up in the eSports PC Rookie of the Year category as the eSports Awards 2019.

“It’s an absolute honour to have been named the best player of 2019 by HLTV. A year ago I couldn’t even have imagined I’d be mentioned alongside these absolute legends in CS:GO, and to take the top spot is honestly mind blowing,” said Herbaut.

“Whilst I’m extremely proud of this achievement, CS:GO is a team game and it would not have been possible without Vitality and my amazing teammates.

“I’ve never felt so motivated and committed to raising the bar in 2020 and to making Vitality the best team in the world.”
