Final Fantasy VII remake part two is in development27th April 2020
The coveted Final Fantasy VII (FFVII) remake finally graced the world earlier this month and to the surprise of many, the sequel is already in the works.
The original game debuted back in 1997 and it was met with acclaim both critically and commercially. Regarded as an instant classic, fans had longed for a remake for some time.
In 2015, their prayers were finally answered as development on the new iteration was confirmed.
Although, its production did have several bumps in the road.
CyberConnect2 was initially outsourced to create the project, only for Square Enix to transition the entire process in-house two years later.
Its release date was then slated for March, 2020 but it was subsequently delayed for another month until it finally arrived.
The latest version does not cover the original’s entire narrative. Instead, the developer opted to split it into multiple segments.
We're proud to announce we shipped and digitally sold over 3.5M copies of #FinalFantasy VII Remake in 3 days! 🥳

FFVII Part II Development Confirmed
It has only been a few weeks since the Final Fantasy VII remake debuted, yet the second part’s development has now been confirmed.
Producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed the news to Entertainment Weekly but did not provide any extra details regarding its release date, platform or plot points.
Given the character models and so on have already been created, it may not require as long to build the sequel.
As such, there is hope for fans that if the next chapter is truly in the works, then they may not have to wait five years like they did for the current entry.
In any event, Kitase’s comments only reveal that part two is in development and nothing more. Until Square Enix announces further details, it remains to be seen when the next entry will release.
