Horizon Zero Dawn 2 could launch with the PS57th October 2019
The hotly anticipated follow-up to one of 2017’s stellar titles – Horizon Zero Dawn – could be released in tandem with the PlayStation 5 launch.
Guerilla Games – the developer behind Sony’s exclusive video game – has been aggressively hiring for new positions to help flesh out an “ambitious open-world project”.
Across the last couple of weeks the studio’s official LinkedIn page has posted several job advertisements – including lead game designer, senior art producer, character art director and so on.
Rumours and rumblings surrounding a follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn have been around all year.
Janina Gavankar – who voiced Tatai in The Frozen Wilds downloadable content (DLC) – teased that the sequel would be ‘incredible’ earlier this year.
She spoke to a fan who was cosplaying as Iden Versio (Gavankar’s character in Star Wars: Battlefront 2) when they mentioned the actress got them into playing the PlayStation exclusive.
Tatai’s voice actor replied “it’s incredible, wait until you see the sequel. You’re going to die. I know some secrets! You’re going to die”.
Given the sheer scope of the original, it make sense that Guerilla Games would be actively seeking in so many department, and the aggressive hiring across the last couple of weeks could be indicative that the studio wants the game to launch alongside the PS5 at the end of next year.
It should be noted that Segment Next is also reporting that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 has previously been leaked as having an late 2020 or early 2021 release date – meaning the sequel might miss the launch of Sony’s next generation console.
