Nioh 2 ‘Darkness In The Capital’ DLC set for release on October 1524th September 2020
The second expansion for Nioh 2 titled ‘Darkness In The Capital’ has finally been unveiled with a release date set for October 15.
The action role-playing game debuted back in March exclusively for the PlayStation 4 before the first DLC arrived in July.
It was called ‘The Tengu’s Disciple’ and it introduced new weapons, soul cores, armour, and enemies alongside several notable boss fights.
Ever since it was released, fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the second expansion which has now been officially announced by developer Team Ninja.
The studio took to the PlayStation Blog and revealed it would be called ‘Darkness In The Capital’.
Its narrative will continue on from the first as the protagonist further unravels the mysteries surrounding their mystical demon-slaying weapon ‘Sohayamaru’.
The base game is set during the Sengoku period in Japan while the first expansion takes players back further in history to the Heian period.
Darkness In The Capital will be similar in this regard as the protagonist is once again plunged back in time into the middle of the same era.
“In order to unravel the mysteries surrounding the history of the Sohayamaru, our protagonist ventures to Kyoto City and discovers a shrine furnished with an old worn-out box,” the developer wrote.
“Upon inspection, the Sohayamaru once again shines brilliantly and the protagonist is whisked away to the middle of the Heian Period, landing in an ancient version of the capital.
“Contrary to its name “Heian Palace,” which means peace and tranquillity, ancient Kyoto was terrorized by countless Yokai during this time period.
“However, there existed many heroes who were brave enough to oppose these demons. Among them were the most preeminent demon slayer and the strongest sorcerer in history, along with their subordinates and colleagues fighting at their side.
“Our protagonist joins forces with these famous heroes in order to quell the unrest and destruction caused by the Yokai hordes, while learning more about the connections between an even more distant past and the present time period from which they came.”
Darkness In The Capital is the second of three planned expansions for Nioh 2, and it will be available worldwide on October 15, 2020.
