Valve’s next project could be Left 4 Dead VR

Despite all the hype surrounding Half-Life: Alyx, people have already begun speculating on Valve’s next project.

The latest rumour to emerge suggests the next venture could well be a Left 4 Dead virtual reality (VR) game.

As the name aptly suggests, teams of four band together to survive waves of zombies.

There have been two titles released under the series’ name, with the sequel released in 2009.

Valve’s next game is the hotly sought-after Half-Life: Alyx. The series is one of gaming’s most treasured with the last release under its name dating back to 2005.

Alyx will see the player don the role of Alyx Vance and her father Eli as they fight back against the ‘Combine’ in City 17. It is set to release in March, 2020 around the same time CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 hits the shelves.

Despite the gaming world being several months away from Half-Life: Alyx, the Left 4 Dead VR rumours have already emerged.

Tyler ‘ValveNewsNetwork‘ McVicker – an insider who correctly predicted Half-Life: Alyx – is the one reporting the rumblings.

He doesn’t offer much in the way of details, nor is it particularly concrete confirmation the game exists. But, given his track record there may be something substantial behind the claim.

He did suggest details would be unveiled at The Game Awards 2019, though this part of the rumour never came to fruition.

While the return of Half-Life – and possibly Left 4 Dead – has set the video games world abuzz, neither (if L4D is coming) would be direct sequels in their respective franchises.

It will be interesting to see if Valve does revive the series, but until official confirmation its return remains up in the air.
